Maximillian isn't his real name ( that's pretty much impossible to pronounce by the human tounge) but it sounds close enough.
Max is trapped in the human world, perhaps forever. He was summoned by this girl by mistake, as she was trying to do this amateur love spell and got a few signs - and words, wrong.
So now, Max has no selfish, vengeful wishes to fullfill and thus has no way of returning to his own realm. He kinda trails after her as he is bound to her by the spell.
He can take an almost human shape. His real "form" is, to put it simple, living darkness. (to put it complicated, his real shape is a mess of massive darkness, hundreds of insect like eyes, razor sharp (and long) teeth, sticky threads and oil like tentacles >_<

Could have done a much better work on those "tentacles" but I kinda got impatient (and I was also doing this at work, which I'm not supposed to do, so I hurried it a bit >_> ) Sorry
